For the third time this year (Hopewell and Prince Edward were added earlier in the school year), Conexus has expanded its’ Mobile Clinic service territory.
In late February, Conexus launched a Mobile Vision Clinic in Amelia County Public Schools at Amelia County Elementary. Over the course of this two-day clinic, the Conexus team will provide free eye exams and glasses to more than 55 kids.
Conexus will also bring the clinic to both Amelia Middle and Amelia High over the coming weeks, and when completed, Conexus anticipates providing free eye exams and glasses to more than 110 students!
Conexus has been delivering its’ VisioCheck vision screening program to Amelia County Public Schools since the 2016-2017 school year. In that time, Conexus has screened 2,997 students, referring 866 for care; a 30.8% refer rate, which is higher than the national average of 25%.
“We recognized that countless families and schools in rural communities are dealing with poor vision impacting their kids in the classroom,” said Tim Gresham, Conexus President & CEO. “So we are beyond thrilled to bring these life-changing eye exams to where the need is!”
