Public Schools
VisioCheck has provided the most advanced screening program available to tens of thousands of students across the Commonwealth.
Piloted in 2012 as an extension of our W.H.E.E.L.S. technology-based screening program, the use of the plusoptiX vision screening technology in the public schools was so well received that the technology-based screenings as a whole took on an identity of their own. Known now as VisioCheck, our technology-based screening program still offers the educational and follow-up components that are so valuable in connection with a quality screening.
The pilot was held in the Greater Richmond and Tri-Cities area, and in subsequent years the screenings have been made available throughout the Commonwealth.
As of 2024, we have screened more than 500,000 students through this program, making an immeasurable impact on students statewide.
“Instead of a child being out of the classroom for 15-20 minutes while I screen them the whole class was screened in that amount of time. The results were far more accurate and caught diagnoses that I would not have caught. The parents respond better also. The area doctors liked the reports and were impressed with the accuracy.”
