On Thursday, September 26th, Conexus hosted its 3nd annual Community Celebration and Awards Reception at The Tuckahoe Woman’s Club.
During the “Back to School” themed event, attendees were given the opportunity to experience Conexus programs; VisioCheck and Mobile Vision Clinic; at immersive stations.
The main part of the evening was Conexus honoring all the people that make its work possible, including several special honorees.
Conexus presented the Mobile Vision Clinic Team from the Department of Medical Assistance Services, Virginia Medicaid with the Community Partner of the Year award; CIS of Chesterfield with the Education Partner of the Year award; and Impact100 with the Vision Partner of the Year award.
During the celebration, Conexus also honored the five years of service for Kia Miles, Director of Programs, and Fitim Xhemaili, Optician; and announced the establishment of a permanent place in the Boardroom to visibly recognize and historically preserve the contributions of former leadership. Portraits of Mrs. Margaret Gill who served as Executive Director from 1962-1979 and Mr. Frank Carlomagno, who served as Executive Director from 1979-1992, will hang at Conexus moving forward.
