This policy describes how Conexus treats information about you that we may receive from you directly or automatically through your computer. This policy does not apply to the practices of persons or entities that Conexus does not control, manage or employ.  Conexus knows that you care how information about you is used. Please read the following to learn more about our privacy policy.

Information We Collect
You can browse our web site without telling us who you are or giving us any Personal Information. When you interact with us through your computer, our web site does record certain non-identifying site usage data, such as the number of hits and visits to our web site. Conexus does collect personal information when you register with us to make a donation, purchase merchandise, or participate in an event. We ask for information such as your name, address, phone number, fax number and, email address. Once you provide us with this information, you are no longer anonymous to us. Additionally, our web site employs “cookies”, which are alphanumeric identifiers that we transfer to your computer’s hard drive through your web browser. We employ “cookies” to perform three functions: to let us know how long you are logged on to our web site and to automatically log you out if you are inactive for a set period of time; to store your user ID and password so that when you return to our web site you won’t have to re-enter some or all of that information; and to provide us with statistics regarding what pages of our web site you visited, and how long you spent there. You may configure your browser to accept all “cookies”, reject all “cookies”, or notify you when a “cookie” is sent. However, when accessing an area that requires a password for entry, “cookies” are not optional and continued paths through the password area will not  continue.

We do not consider the acknowledgement of an individual’s name in a donor category in our annual report or other donor recognition materials to be personal information. Donors are offered the opportunity to make their contribution anonymously. If at any time you wish to be removed from our lists, simply contact us by phone at (804) 423-2020 or via e-mail at [email protected]. Please allow 7-10 business days to allow us to update our records accordingly.

Use of Information
Conexus does not sell, share or disclose personal information with persons or entities not affiliated with or employed by Conexus except with your consent or when we reasonably determine it necessary to do so in order to comply with law or protect the safety, property or legal rights or Conexus or others. Conexus does employ persons or entities to perform functions on our behalf, such as sending postal and email and processing credit card payments. Such persons or entities have access to personal information needed to perform their functions, but may not use such information for any other purposes. Conexus has contractual arrangements with certain partners to provide information and services through our web site. Each of these partners may set and access “cookies” on your computer through our web site. The use of such “cookies” by each of these partners is subject to their own privacy policy, not the privacy policy of Conexus. We believe these partners share a similar commitment to privacy and urge you to review their privacy policies when visiting their sites. However, we cannot be responsible for their privacy policies.

Security
Conexus works to protect the security of your information during transmissions by using industry standard practices, including “firewalls” and Secure Sockets Layer software, which encrypts information you input. We reveal only the last five digits of your credit card numbers during registration confirmation, although the entire credit card number is transmitted to the appropriate credit card company during processing. While we use several different techniques and policies to ensure the security of your personal information from unauthorized access and use, you should be aware that absolute security does not exist as to information on the Internet. In this regard, it is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your computer.
